Consumer Price Index and Inflation Rate of Parepare Municipality 2019

This publication presents several brief reviews on the comparison of the price index and inflation rate of the City of Parepare with other cities in the Sulawesi Island region and nationally. This review is expected to make it easier for data consumers to compare price developments that have occurred during 2019.

The inflation rate that occurs in Indonesia fluctuates from year to year. This situation is mainly the result of the Indonesian economy being too sensitive to influences originating from within and outside the country. One indicator that can provide an overview of the level of price development in a certain area and is a benchmark in calculating the rate of inflation or deflation in a certain period is price statistics.

One of the ways to calculate the inflation rate is by looking at the development of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which is obtained from monitoring the prices of consumer needs on a regular basis (weekly, biweekly, and monthly). The CPI measures the magnitude of price changes at the consumer level that occur in a group (package) of goods and services that represents the average consumption of society in urban areas, aimed at obtaining a wider range of commodity packages of goods and services.
