Abstract

The publication of the Consumer Price Index and Inflation Rate of Parepare Municipality 2023 is one of the BPS products for the City of Parepare in order to complement the availability of statistical information for the government and the public. This book presents data from various sectors which are generally used as material and basic information for planning, decision making and evaluation of a series of development programs and activities that have been or will be implemented. The data presented is generally data in the form of a brief review of the comparison of the price index and inflation rate of Parepare Municipality. It is hoped that this review will make it easier for data consumers to compare current price developments during 2023. Inflation is an increase in the prices of goods and services consumed by society in general. The price increase for each item is not always the same, and the increase can occur in absolute or percentage terms. Inflation indicators are used as a basis for determining monetary policy and fiscal policy by the government. For the private sector, inflation indicators are used as a basis for making business policies, especially those related to company efficiency and wage level adjustments. The inflation rate in Indonesia fluctuates from year to year. This situation is mainly caused by the sensitivity of the Indonesian economy to internal and external influences. One indicator that describes the level of price development in a certain area and serves as a benchmark for calculating the level of inflation or deflation in a certain period is price statistics. The inflation rate can be calculated in one way, namely by looking at the development of the Consumer Price Index (CPI). CPI is obtained from the results of monitoring prices of consumer needs periodically (weekly, fortnightly and monthly). CPI measures price changes at the consumer level for a group (package) of goods and services that represents the average consumption of people in urban areas. This is done to obtain wider coverage of commodity packages of goods and services.
