Abstract

The publication "HUMAN DEVELOPMENT INDEX OF PAREPARE MUNICIPALITY 2019" is an annual statistical publication published by BPS Kota Parepare. The 2019 HDI uses a new method of calculation so that this change can get a more comprehensive picture of the level of people's welfare and indicators that serve as a measure of the achievement of the success of regional development.

In the new method, UNDP introduced a new indicator on the dimension of knowledge, namely the Old School Expectations (HLS) to replace the AMH indicator which is no longer relevant because it cannot describe the quality of education. In addition, UNDP also uses the GNI per capita indicator to replace the GDP per capita indicator. This indicator is a proxy for people's income. However, GDP is formed from all production factors and if there is foreign investment it is taken into account. In fact, not all of the income from these production factors is enjoyed by the Indonesian population. Thus, GDP per capita does not represent the income of the people in an area.
